Google’s New Gemini-Powered AI Voice Features Come to Gmail, Docs, and Keep

Google Adds Voice Features to Gmail, Docs & Keep

Google is taking a major step toward bringing AI voice features to users. The company has announced new Gemini Audio Models that let users complete everyday tasks using their voice.

The new AI voice features powered by Gemini work across Gmail, Docs, and Google Keep, allowing users to search, draft, and take notes using natural speech instead of typing. Google first previewed Gemini Audio Models at Google I/O 2026, and these new capabilities are now expanding across its productivity suite.

Gmail Live: Talk to Your Inbox

One of the key Gemini-powered voice features is Gmail Live. It turns users' email inbox into a conversational search experience, eliminating the need for manual search. Users can ask questions Gmail like “What’s my flight’s gate number?” or “What’s going on at my kid’s school this week?” Users can even ask follow-up questions, interrupt the conversation, or change the topic by simply speaking. Gmail Live scans your inbox and generates the answers accordingly.

Docs Live: Create Your First Draft

With the new Docs Live feature, writing lengthy documents is now easy. It acts as a voice-powered writing partner. Users can start a real-time conversation with Docs Live to create a first draft faster with their voice input. Simply talk, and Gemini, with permission, pulls relevant information from Gmail, Google Drive, Chat, and the web, helping users create documents easily without starting from a blank page.

Keep Live: Turn Ideas into Organized Notes

Keep Live is used to take quick notes and ideas that cross on mind anytime through voice. Users can dictate their thoughts, and Keep Live can structure, refine, and transform them into organized, actionable notes. Users don’t need to type anything. Keep voice feature understands the thoughts, processes them, and turns your thoughts into structured lists and notes.

      How About Rollout and Availability

Google said in its announcement that these conversational features are rolling out this week. They are available in Gmail and Keep for Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers while Docs Live is available for Pro and Ultra subscribers only. Keep Live currently works only on Android, whereas Gmail Live and Docs Live are available on both Android and iOS devices.

All these features will be available soon for Google Workspace business customers. This launch is indeed a major push by Google towards voice-driven AI, taking a step forward in how users interact and get things done.
