Google is rolling out Project Genie, which allows users to explore and remix AI-generated 3D worlds. It is an experimental research prototype and is exclusively available for Google AI Ultra subscribers (18+) in the US. The launch marks an advanced step beyond Genie 3, a general-purpose world model capable of generating interactive environments.
Google DeepMind Project Genie expands access to the immersive world through dedicated and interactive prototyping. The experimental tool is built on Google’s Genie 3, Nano Banana Pro, and Gemini. These advanced AI models enable users to use Project Genie to experiment with immersive real‑world experiences firsthand.
Google DeepMind is recognized for building agents for specific environments. Additionally, to meet its long-initiated AGI mission, Google introduced Genie 3. This model allowed real-time interaction with dynamic worlds through physics simulation. The rollout of Project Genie is an indication of Google’s advancement of world models.
As stated by DeepMind on X, “Step inside Project Genie: our experimental research prototype that lets you create, edit, and explore virtual worlds.”
Key Capabilities in Google DeepMind Project Genie-
Project Genie is supported by Gemini, Genie 3, and Nano Banana Pro to allow users to create and explore worlds. Here are its core capabilities:
World Sketching:
Users can process prompts in text and images to establish a living and expanding environment. Additionally, users can easily create their characters and world, defining the way to explore it. The feature of World Sketching is powered by Nano Banana Pro. The integration enables users to preview the world they have created and modify it as per their convenience.
World Exploration:
Project Genie is capable of generating a path forward in real-time while users move or take actions in the interactive world. It creates a navigable environment where users can just take a few steps behind exploring.
World remixing:
Project Genie also allows users to remix existing worlds while interpreting them in new ways. There are also options for choosing curated worlds from the gallery and making changes in them. After the changes are made, users can download the videos of the worlds they have created.
Google’s Initiative in Building Responsible AI:
Google is determined to build AI responsibly that can contribute to the betterment of humanity. With this objective, the tech giant has introduced the experimental research prototype in Google Labs, Project Genie.
Google is looking for further improvements in the upcoming days across true-to-life generated worlds, more controllable characters, and a generation limit beyond 60 seconds.
While making Project Genie available to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US, the firm aims to expand the facilities to a broader user base in the coming years. Check out our recent news stories and stay informed about the prominent tech updates and announcements.
