Litera Connects Contract Drafting and Negotiation in One Trusted Legal AI Workflow

      Litera Legal AI

At ILTACON, Litera will preview how deterministic redlines, firm-approved precedent, and agentic change management work together

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Litera, the Legal AI platform provider that best unifies the practice and business of law, announced new capabilities that connect contract drafting and negotiation in one trusted Legal AI workflow. From sourcing firm-approved precedent and building the first draft to comparing versions, understanding risk and proposing response language, Litera keeps the work connected instead of forcing lawyers across separate tools. The announcement includes new Lito workflows, Litera’s award-winning Legal AI agent, in Microsoft Word and Litera for Windows, a modern desktop experience that brings Litera's Legal AI platform directly to a user's computer.

Litera is the only Legal AI provider that combines deterministic accuracy for high-stakes work with modern LLM intelligence, delivered through one agent and built on 30 years of legal-specific expertise. Most Legal AI platforms rely primarily on probabilistic foundation models. Even when fine-tuned for legal work, outputs can vary and require extensive verification. That creates the Trust Gap: AI promises speed, but the value disappears when lawyers must recheck every result. Litera closes that gap by applying the right AI to each task. Its proprietary deterministic engines provide repeatable, verifiable results where precision matters, including a redline algorithm more accurate than general-purpose LLMs. LLM-powered intelligence builds on that foundation to surface insights, accelerate workflows, and handle complexity that rules alone cannot reach.

“Negotiation is where a matter is won or lost, and where a single missed change carries the most risk,” said Adam Ryan, Chief Product Officer, Litera. “Yet most Legal AI stops at the first draft, leaving lawyers to read redlines line by line under deadline. If a lawyer still has to recheck everything, the value of AI was never really created. Litera closes that gap with intelligent connected workflows built on 30 years of legal expertise and each firm's approved knowledge, so our lawyers can focus on the strategy behind the deal, not the mechanics of tracking changes.”

Litera’s connected contract drafting and negotiation workflow follows the way legal work actually moves: start from firm knowledge, see exactly what changed, and then act with confidence.

      • Start from firm-approved precedent: Available now, Precedent within Litera Create Content lets lawyers search the firm's curated content library and document management system for gold-standard clauses, definitions, and precedent documents. Lawyers build first drafts from language the firm has already approved and negotiated successfully.
      • See exactly what changed: When the opposing side returns a new version, Litera's deterministic comparison engine shows every change in a redesigned unified viewer across browser and desktop. Litera for Windows adds right-click comparison from Windows Explorer and direct redline sharing through Outlook. Comparison also sits within Lito, keeping the redline in the same Legal AI experience where the negotiation continues.
      • Act on what matters: Beginning in late September, Lito's Manage Changes workflow will build AI-powered change management on top of Litera Compare's deterministic redline. It will surface changes that carry risk, explain the impact of each one, and suggest rewrites, so lawyers spend time on consequences rather than spotting edits. Grounding those suggested rewrites in the firm's own approved precedent is planned for Q4.

The result is one connected negotiation loop that answers what changed, what it means, and what to send back. For firms, that is how the Practice of Law creates legal value: trusted work, stronger outcomes, less rework, and time returned to lawyers. It also advances the full Return on AI (RoAI), because reclaimed capacity creates more value when it strengthens client trust and makes room for the next matter.

“Lito helped me review and compare over 40 leases,” said Brian Corbett, Partner, Poyner Spruill. “What would have taken five hours took 30 to 45 minutes.”

      Litera for Windows

Litera for Windows combines the Litera for Web experience, embedded Lito capabilities, and the deterministic comparison engine used across the legal industry in a modern, native Windows application. Lito is embedded in Litera for Windows, offering all the power of Litera’s AI skills and workflows directly from a user’s home screen. Users can compare multiple document sets, launch right-click comparisons from Windows Explorer, and send redlines directly through Outlook.

This is the first step in bringing Litera's unified platform experience from the web to the desktop, with Litera for Mac coming soon. Litera for Windows reaches General Availability on Aug. 24.

At ILTACON: Extending the Connected Matter into Agentic Due Diligence

At ILTACON, Litera will demonstrate the Due Diligence Agent, an integration of Lito and AI-powered contract intelligence platform Kira that takes an M&A deal team from data room to client-ready draft report in a single guided workflow. Kira handles document classification and extraction; Lito orchestrates the workflow and drafts the report section by section, structured to the firm's own precedent reports. Every finding is traceable back to the underlying extraction and source document, and the agent pauses for lawyer review at each phase rather than substituting for legal judgment. It is the latest example of how Litera is building Earned Intelligence across the matter lifecycle: a firm's precedents and prior work shape each new draft instead of every deal starting from scratch. The integration is expected to be available in Q4.
