Researchers get advanced features in a governed, scalable research environment, while accessing underlying AWS infrastructure with zero cost markup
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Verily Health, a precision health AI company, announced at the 2026 AWS Life Sciences Symposium that Verily Workbench, Verily’s scalable trusted research environment (TRE) for biomedical data analysis and AI/ML development, is now generally available for organizations using Amazon Web Services (AWS). Workbench is an enterprise-grade TRE that enables researchers to co-analyze data where it lives, accelerating discovery through integrated AI tools with built-in healthcare compliance.
"With Verily Workbench now available for customers using AWS, research organizations can access a highly scalable, governed research environment to accelerate their critical work on the AWS Cloud," said Dr. Rowland Illing, Chief Medical Officer and Director, Healthcare and Life Sciences at AWS. "Through this offering, Verily enables researchers to analyze massive, complex biomedical datasets and build AI models with greater speed, compliance, and cost efficiency through their existing AWS enterprise agreements. This collaboration underscores our commitment to equipping customers with the best tools for advancing research."
Key benefits of Verily Workbench on AWS include:
Secure and compliant TRE built for biomedical data - Workbench and Verily Pre maintain strict isolation, consistent governance, and strong security and compliance assurance, validated by SOC 2 Type 2 attestation and ISO/IEC 27001 certification from accredited third-party auditors, in addition to the assurances offered by AWS.
Scalable analysis with enterprise integration - Researchers can use Workbench as a cloud-scale environment with flexible analysis tooling and broad enterprise integration capabilities, including secure access to proprietary data, and biomedical workflows powered by AWS HealthOmics, which define and execute multi-stage data processing jobs across data modalities.
Zero cloud cost markup - Workbench provides a transparent cost structure by allowing organizations to use their existing AWS accounts. This ensures negotiated AWS rates and spending commitments apply to storage and compute costs incurred via Workbench.
NVIDIA AI stack - Researchers can leverage the natively integrated NVIDIA AI tools in Workbench, including NVIDIA NeMo, NVIDIA Parabricks, and NVIDIA CUDA-X Data Science and access to latest GPUs including NVIDIA Blackwell and NVIDIA Hopper to train multimodal foundation models 10x faster and accelerate genomic analysis from hours to minutes.
Multicloud integration - Workbench’s core features are consistent across AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), enabling the interoperability needed to support collaboration and allowing researchers to choose the appropriate cloud for their analysis.
Free standard tier accounts and data ecosystem - Researchers can now access Workbench and Verily’s Exchange solution by registering for a free, standard tier account. Through Exchange, they can access novel health data sources from Verily and data partners.
“Verily Workbench on AWS provides the enterprise-grade TRE that will empower even more researchers to accelerate data analytics and the entire AI/ML model lifecycle, while enabling governance and collaboration,” said Scott Burke, Chief Technology Officer at Verily. “Customers can now use their existing AWS investment, enterprise data, and specialized tools to co-analyze large biomedical datasets and securely build, train, and deploy the next generation of multimodal foundation models to power precision health.”
Workbench currently serves life sciences, health system, payer, and government customers and provides the TRE platform for massive multi-modal studies including the NIH’s All of Us Research Program, which supports over 20,000 researchers worldwide.
