Workato Launches Enterprise MCP Registry, Advancing the Enterprise AI Control and Execution Platform

      Workato Enterprise MCP Registry

New Enterprise MCP Registry gives organizations a governed system of record for discovering, securing, and governing AI capabilities at scale

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Workato®, the leading Enterprise AI Control and Execution Platform, today announced the Enterprise MCP Registry, further strengthening Workato Enterprise MCP as a unified control platform for enterprise AI. Together with MCP Composer for building MCP servers, MCP Gateway and MCP Proxy for securing and governing AI interactions, and a catalog of more than 60 production-ready MCP servers, Workato Enterprise MCP enables organizations to build, publish, discover, secure, and operate AI capabilities through a single enterprise platform.

Enterprises are rapidly moving from a handful of AI pilots to hundreds and soon thousands of AI agents operating across the business. While the Model Context Protocol (MCP) has become the standard for connecting AI to enterprise data and processes, it does not address how organizations discover approved MCP capabilities, govern access, enforce security policies consistently, or audit what an agent actually did. As AI deployments scale, so does the number of fragmented MCP servers, each with its own access model and no shared record of what exists or who can use it.

Workato's Enterprise MCP Registry gives organizations a governed system of record for every MCP server across the enterprise - whether built by Workato, AI vendors, software providers, partners, or internal development teams. As a neutral and extensible platform, Workato enables enterprises to adopt the best AI capabilities from any source while governing them through a single control platform.

Each server moves through a managed lifecycle, from development and testing to publishing, versioning, and decommissioning, and only approved versions become visible to developers and AI agents. The result is a single inventory of enterprise MCP capabilities that teams can discover, reuse, and extend, instead of every team standing up its own version of the same server.

Discovering an approved MCP capability, however, is only the first step. Enterprises also need confidence that every interaction with business systems is governed consistently, regardless of which AI agent or LLM initiates the request. The Enterprise MCP Gateway provides that enforcement layer by applying authentication, authorization, credential management, rate limits, and data protection policies before requests reach enterprise systems. Verified User Access (VUA), a unique Workato feature, ensures every AI/Agent action is executed using the requesting user's identity and permissions rather than shared service credentials. Centralized audit trails capture who initiated an action, which agent executed it, which capability was invoked, which enterprise systems were accessed, and how the request was fulfilled. Together, the Registry, Gateway, identity, and audit trail provide organizations with a consistent governance model across every AI interaction.

Alongside the Registry, Workato is introducing more than 60 production-ready Enterprise MCP servers across productivity, collaboration, CRM, engineering, HR, finance, customer support, IT operations, and marketing. Unlike generic API-first implementations that simply expose underlying APIs, Workato's MCP servers expose Enterprise Skills - reusable, governed, tested, auditable, and observable business capabilities designed uniquely for AI agents.

Enterprise Skills encapsulate business logic, approvals, validation, orchestration, retries, exception handling, and multi-system workflows into deterministic operations that any authorized AI agent can invoke. Rather than asking an agent to coordinate dozens of low-level API calls, organizations expose complete business capabilities such as creating a purchase order in SAP, reconciling customer records across Salesforce and Zendesk, validating incoming payments against invoices, or provisioning Role-Based Identity, Access, and Devices for new-hire onboarding. This delivers the accuracy, consistency, and reliability enterprises expect, removing hallucination risks. Enterprise Skills reduce token costs by exposing business capabilities - not raw APIs - allowing AI agents to invoke a single trusted operation instead of iteratively discovering, selecting, and orchestrating multiple tools.

Built, tested, and governed once, Enterprise Skills can be reused across every AI agent, ensuring consistent business outcomes regardless of which agent invokes them. They can represent a single application or span multiple enterprise systems, encapsulating an organization's own business rules, workflow logic, and error handling behind a single governed interface. Using Workato's MCP Composer and library of connectors supporting more than 14,000 applications, organizations can extend pre-built MCP servers or build new ones that expose trusted business capabilities rather than raw APIs - making enterprise AI easier to build, govern, and scale.

"MCP is becoming the standard way AI systems interact with enterprise software, but protocols alone can’t run your business. You need a platform," said Bhagat Nainani, Chief Product Officer at Workato. "As AI adoption accelerates, organizations need more than a protocol. They need a control platform that governs discovery, policy enforcement, identity, and accountability across every AI interaction. Workato’s Enterprise MCP Registry provides that foundation, allowing customers to scale AI safely while focusing their engineering effort on solving business problems instead of rebuilding infrastructure every team already needs."

"Governance is one of the biggest barriers to deploying AI at enterprise scale," said Kevin Wolf, Vice President of AI and Information Technology at Swanson Health. "It's not enough to know an agent is connected; you need to know who authorized the action, what capability was invoked, and whether every step can be audited. Workato gives us a consistent governance model across every AI interaction while allowing our teams to focus on business outcomes instead of infrastructure."

The Enterprise MCP Registry, together with Workato's catalog of 60+ production-ready MCP servers, is available now as part of Workato Enterprise MCP, the company's enterprise control and execution platform for AI. These pre-built servers help organizations accelerate from development to production, with 43% of Enterprise MCP servers published by customers today starting from Workato's pre-built MCP servers before being extended for organization-specific needs.

Over the past six months, the number of Enterprise MCP servers published by customers has grown more than 2,100% as enterprises connect AI agents to mission-critical systems including SAP, Oracle Fusion Cloud, Workday, ServiceNow, Salesforce, Snowflake, and Databricks, using governed discovery, centralized policy enforcement, verified identity, reusable Enterprise Skills, and end-to-end auditability to scale AI with the same security, governance, and operational discipline they expect from every other mission-critical enterprise platform.
